about alex franka
I am one of those rare individuals who gets a kick at using both the creative side and the analytical side of the brain. Interaction Design appeals to me because it requires for me to think critically and ideate solutions to convey sophisticated concepts with precision and nuance, while at the same time pushing me to use color, textures, shapes and fonts to create the most interesting and entertaining dialog between website and user.

Visual design, information design, motion design. All these elements come together to create a workflow not only from page to page but also from emotional state to emotional state, allowing users to create a connection with the website that goes beyond any marketing concept, because at the end Interaction Design is also about human emotions. In the last ten years my skills have evolved from print designer to web/interaction design and art direction, with solid core in HTML/CSS and light jQuery coding an strong emphasis in video editing and motion design for online delivery.
My expertise have been put to use in projects for companies and agencies such as: Benefit Cosmetics, Cutwater, Grey SF, WDFA Marketing, JWT Boom (now defunct), The Online 401k, The Swiss Consulate of San Francisco, Digital Pickle, Words Pictures Ideas and others in the Bay Area and for Elevation, Jam Communications,The Interamerican Development Bank, The Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain, Washington Post/Newsweek Interactive and Advocates for Youth in the Washington DC area.

When I'm not an Interaction Designer I am a photographer, a traveler, a cyclist, a hiker, a trekker, an acoustic-guitar player, a passionate movie-goer, a reader of anything that tickles my brain at that moment, a friend, a lover...or just another local sipping a nice capuccino while people-watching.
